Yolanda vom Hagen
Born in Düsseldorf/Germany, Yolanda studied Photography and Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund and the Beijing Film Academy (2006-2007).
Her first real encounter with Chinese was in 2005 during a Chinese-German Photo Workshop while her studies in Dortmund. Three intensive weeks of cohabitation and cooperation with students from Tsing Hua University sparked her interest in China.
Several works like „In real China is blue“, „Hackenfleisch – The life of Chinese in Germany“ and her thesis „Beijing Blue“ aimed to capture the diversity and character of the people having welcomed her so openly.
After her graduation she decided to make China her new home. She was commissioned as official photographer for the German Pavilion on the Expo 2010. In this position Yolanda documented the genesis of the whole Expo area during construction, the event and the current conversion process. Since then she lives and works in Shanghai.
Yolanda is specialized in the fields of Interior, architecture, portraiture and documentary photography.
